After Typhoon Photos

When nothing is going on talk about the weather.

We had a typhoon blow through last week. It wasn't too bad. Kinda wimpy actually. Lots of rain and a few gusts. I lost the garbage can lid again. But that always happens.

When the typhoon was mostly over I looked outside and it was yellow. Yellow! Outside! I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pictures.

Here's the after-typhoon rainbow. It *was* a double rainbow and much more vivid, but I was lolly-gagging around (talking to neighbors) and missed the shot.

Quite feint actually.

Here the sky's trying to clear. But you can see the wall of cloud on the left. It wrapped all the way around. Impressive.

The hole in the sky from another angle.

This is what it look like behind the sky-trying-to-clear shot.

Some more yellow and blue sky.

And this happens more than I admit, but this next picture I took when I slipped.

It turned out sorta nice.

Worth the embarrassment.

※And in news: I got a nice gig as a monthly guest blogger on a really cool, high trafficked site. I'll write up a post about Scary Japan and also do a water color to accompany it (be afraid, be very afraid). Still working on my first post but I'll let you know when it's up.

Excellent news, Terrie. Congrats! :)

I love these pics. I remember a few times when the sky has turned this uneasy shade of yellow. Once was before a serious tornado did a lot of damage considerably north of us. I'm glad your typhoon was more show than action. Love your accidental shot.

Serendipity=happy accident. ;)

Hilary, they really were all point and shoots. We had company coming in like ten minutes and I wanted to take something because I knew it wouldn't last. And I am much more afraid of tornadoes than typhoons. We had loads of those when I was a kid. Typhoons are so much more predictable.

Deidre, ^^v

Ooh, I love weather pics and these are great! We got some rainbow photos in Spain that I'll put up sooner or later, but don't know that they're anywhere near as nice as yours, Terrie.

You're gonna post the guest blog address too, right?

Good for you, getting a guest blogging job!

When we had the big hailstorm in Abiko ten years ago, I couldn't stop taking pictures. Our hedge looked like someone had used it for target practice and there were golf ball sized hailstones everywhere.

'Lollygagging' -- my mother used that word all the time when I was a kid, but I haven't heard it for ages...
