An Autumn Quiz

Okay, I'm trying to get into the swing of weekly blogs again. Still, I've got some other things vying for my time so posts might be short. Like a photo of my cat pulling a face at me or this:

An autumn-flavored quiz.

What is this?

(Note: Readers in Japan will know right off the bat.)

Actually, this is too easy, isn't it?

Wait for it...

Wait for it....

Okay! Here it is sliced in half.

Ta-dah! It's a pumpkin-shaped fancy bread.

And as you can (kind of) see with a better close up, it had sweet pumpkin mash inside as well.

Note the use of past tense in "it *had* pumpkin mash inside". Yep, devoured before the photos even uploaded.

It was delicious.

I'm not seeing the recipe..... tap, tap, tap. Or was it a store bought cake? Really I just wan to know what the stem is and how it sits there like that.

Recipe! I wish. I could go take a shot of the store though, cute old guy runs it.

Now for the stem, this was a shock. I thought wouldn't it be clever if he used a real pumpkin seed somehow as the stem. With that thought in mind I took a bite. Okay, I have to tell you about this snack food they have here, freeze-dried soybeans. They're not bad actually, as a snack food, I guess. But I'm not so sure they should be used when baking bread. SALTY! And BEANY!

Thanks so much for the POW. Today's my day to catch up on blog reading. Will be paying you and everyone else a visit very soon.

Love the bread - looks yummy! - but what's your signature mean?

LOL. I wondered the same thing, Pat. The Japanese can be so wonderfully artistic sometimes. Now I want something pumpkinny. I drank all of my pumpkin-flavored soy milk. Sigh.

Very clever. I knew it couldn't be a pumpkin -- too obvious, and the texture was all wrong. Then I almost thought it was a mandarin orange with something stuck in the middle to make it look like a pumpkin.

Now I want to make pumpkin bread.
