...but kind of cute in a morbid way.
Last week the dog and I came across this:
I knelt down to get a better look.
What IS it?
Is it really some small animal? Or maybe a stuffed animal that got smooshed? You can't tell the size from the photo but it could probably fit in the palm of my hand.
Right now my money is on stuffed animal for the simple fact that Cha Cha displayed zero interest in the thing. Had it been a real rodent I think he'd at least he'd have given it a sniff.

Wow, you know at first I thought it was a formerly living creature. LOL. But now I look at it up close and I have two thoughts. It might be a thoroughly saturated and flattened stuff animal or it could be scat. Owl scat usually doesn't come out like this, though, so I'm still voting on a dead stuffed animal. Eerie, though, isn't it?
You're a brave soul, Victoria. I had done thought I scared everyone off.
I went to check and it's gone, been washed away. Because it wasn't grotesque and I couldn't find any actual arms or legs, I'm voting small stuffed animal too.
I think you've had a Canadian visitor in your midst. It looks like an Ookpik. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ookpik
Google images will show you what it looks like.
You didn't poke it with a stick? I'd have poked it with a stick.
Wussy. :P
*runs away goobily chortling*
Oh my gosh, Hilary! I think it is. What an adorable little creature.
V, I debated bringing it home on a spatula but, yeah, I'm a wuss. Hee!
I thought it was a squished baby owl...
We found a dead baby bat the other day, all curled up and perfectly formed. It was so sad, but fascinating all the same.
And I'd definitely have poked that thing in the photo with a stick.
Mary, I'm surprised we don't have bats lying around. I know we have swarms flying at dusk. Never seen a dead one. Poor little guy.
Am now thinking up light and fluffy post for this week.
