When a cowboy is feeling peckish, he reaches for his bag of chips.
"That'll be the day!"
But what do our Far Eastern assassins of the night go for?
Why, the ninja snack Fuwa Maru of course!
Shaped like a ninja weapon it is said to disappear softly into you mouth--not unlike a ninja disappearing softly into the night? It's a corn chip, sorta.
There is a salt-flavored type, but I coudn't find that one. This is the peppery version.
It does indeed taste unlike any corn chip I've ever eaten. It tastes...stealth-y.
These babies are thanks to the company Tohato, btw. I wonder if they're sold anywhere else.
Oh, and if the idea of a ninja snack food doesn't entice you, here's their commercial (I think someone held a mobile phone up to the TV to record it, but you get the idea--ninja running, eating snack, disappearing into a stream of smoke.)

The cowboy chips remind me a little of one of those commercials featuring beefy-faced pioneer types sharing skillet-fried sausages and frosty mugs of beer with their Japanese buddies, in a log cabin. Remember those?
You're right: I'm betting a 21-year-old made that ninja commercial with his or her mobile phone. God help us, the kids are taking over the earth, and they're going to muck it all up!
(Don't mind me: I'm having a protracted senior moment. I just had a birthday and I remember commericals when they used to be really artsy and technically perfect. Sniff.)
Oh my, I have to get some of those for my hubby! He teaches a form of ninjutsu--I can never remember the Japanese name of it. Mmm, ninja chips.
I think I'll stick to tofu.
I love tofu.
Mary, Happy Birthday!! You're still a youngin' in my book. Although, yep, I remember things that shock, absolutely stun, my son.
Plaidearthworm, oh, he'd love these!! And he's students would certainly get a giggle out of them.
Jim, me too, tofu rocks. And so much more healthier.
They look kinda like dog biscuits but if they taste like corn chips, I'd eat 'em! Would they make me any more graceful?
Now there's an angle they should have gone for, not just the ninja disappearing into thin air...grace. Aren't ninja's supposed to be light on their feet?
I did it! I finally got my Japan pictures up!!!
That is awesome. Too bad I didn't see them when I went to Japan. The cowboy looks like a guy I knew in my old Highschool.
Ooooh, I feel old...it's a relatively young picture of John Wayne. Ha ha. Gonna go check your pictures now.
I miss Japanese snacks......
I'm thinking that the ninja chips are not going to be my cup of tea. But give me those funky smelling shrimp crackers any day! There's also the one that looks and tastes a bit like pink stryofoam that is supposed to taste like shrimp? Ooooh, and I love those chestnut cookies! My favorite!
Mmmm Japanese snacks...
And those ebisen are quite addicting. Ninja chips are like an extremely soft, black pepper, funky-shaped version of those.
